How does Biodynamic massage works?

"It is as if you have a seedling, and you cover the place where it is meant to grow with stones; it will push its way up bent and twisted."— Gerda Boyesen

Your body is constantly working to maintain balance. When we experience prolonged stress, emotional overwhelm or difficult life experiences, our body and mind adapt in order to cope and protect us. As a result our natural capacity for self-regulation can become disrupted leading to psychosomatic and/or mental health symptoms such as: muscular tension, anxiety, emotional-dysregulation, fatigue, digestion issues, difficulty relaxing  (hypervigilance) or a sense of feeling disconnected from yourself.

Biodynamic Massage creates the conditions for these patterns to soften, encouraging the body to move away from protective, adaptive state and towards rest, restoration and regulation.

Biodynamic Massage draws on a range of techniques, each with a specific therapeutic purpose. Treatment may focus on different aspects of the body, including the muscles, skeleton, fascia, connective tissues, skin and energetic field, according to your individual needs.

Treatment may include:

·      Gentle massage techniques

·      Stretching

·      Deep tissue work where appropriate

·      Soft tissue mobilisation

·      Awareness of breathing

While a single session can be beneficial and may bring noticeable changes, we generally recommend a series of 4–8 weekly sessions (or more). This allows us to work more deeply with your body's natural healing processes, support lasting integration, and address patterns that have developed over time. As each person is unique, the number of sessions will always be tailored to your individual needs and goals.

First Contact

We begin with a complimentary 15-minute introductory phone call. This gives us the opportunity to discuss what has brought you to Biodynamic Massage, answer any questions you may have, and explore whether this approach feels suitable for your needs.

Your First Session

Your first face-to-face appointment lasts 75 minutes and begins with a conversation. We’ll take time to discuss your health history, current concerns, your reasons for seeking Biodynamic Massage, and what you would like to receive from the treatment.

You will have plenty of time to ask questions and share anything that feels important before the massage begins.

Follow-up sessions

All subsequent sessions last 60mins and always begin with a short conversation. These appointments are an opportunity to continue the therapeutic process.

The treatment itself is always tailored to you. Some sessions may involve more physical techniques, while others may be slower and gentler, depending on what feels appropriate for your body and nervous system on the day.

You will be invited to undress only to the level that feels comfortable for you. Underwear is always worn, and you will remain fully covered with a sheet throughout the session. Only the areas being worked on will be gently uncovered at the time of treatment, ensuring your privacy, comfort and dignity are always respected.

There is no expectation to talk during the treatment. Some clients appreciate the quiet space to rest and reconnect with themselves, while others find that conversation naturally arises.

At the end of the session, you will have time to slowly reorient before leaving. I may offer gentle suggestions for rest, hydration or self-care to support your integration after treatment.

Every Biodynamic Massage session is unique. A wide range of techniques allows each treatment to respond to your individual needs, taking into account your physical, emotional and energetic state in that moment. No two sessions are exactly alike.
